About
We believe that an AI in its true sense (nowadays referred to as AGI) should manipulate concepts, and complement human reasoning. Image and voice recognition, driving a vehicle, or playing board games — the domain of “narrow” AI or machine learning — should be considered skills that can be added to an AI. An AI also doesn’t need to imitate the human brain; it can supplement it in unprecedented ways.
CHLOE is a project started in 2000 that tries to implement a natural-language AI capable of learning concepts, making associations, and producing new ideas. Natural language is a proven vehicle for manipulating concepts, so CHLOE learns from chatting with people and, eventually, from searching the web.
